Pfeiffer Ridge Fire in Big Sur

The Pfeiffer Fire was declared 100% contained December 20, 2013 by the Forest Service. The number of residences damaged/destroyed in the blaze now stands at 34. The fire burned a total of 917 acres. It started late Sunday night, December 15th and the cause is still under investigation.

All evacuations and road closures have been lifted. Residents of Pfeiffer Ridge Road and Sycamore Canyon road were allowed to return to their residences on December 23 2013 at 6:00 p.m. Residents of Clear Creek Middle Ridge and Front Hill were allowed to return to their homes on December 21 2013.

PG&E will continue to work along Sycamore Road and Pfeiffer Ridge Road. They will be using a helicopter to transport materials into the burn area.

Due to predicted increased temperatures but higher relative humidity fire activity inside the perimeter will be less during today’s operational period. Smoke may still be visible but personnel will be on scene.
