The 80th anniversary of Sir Roland Hanna‘s birth is this Friday. We hear some selections by him in the second half of the show.
Also on the show this week — recordings by Jack DeJohnette, Mildred Bailey, Duke Ellington, and a piece from the recent release by Charlie Haden and the late Hank Jones. There will be selections by saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, who will perform at Kuumbwa Jazz this Thursday, and by pianist Benny Green, whose trio will be at Kuumbwa on Monday.
