Clark Terry is a beloved veteran of many, many Monterey Jazz Festivals. The Sunday afternoon of the 55th Festival is an appropriate time to honor him and his continuing contributions to jazz and jazz education. Also, Terry, who Dizzy Gillespie called the greatest trumpet player on earth, has published a recent spirited and very personal biography, Clark Terry. Put simply: it’s a great read.
