We have selected a number of rare vinyl releases from our jazz LP library for restoration. The LPs are carefully transferred to the digital realm and then painstakingly restored by taking out as much of the sonic imperfections as possible. The LPs we choose have never been issued in CD form or else are very rare on domestic CDs. The first batch of projects is done and you will be hearing selections from them soon on KUSP.
The first batch includes an album from Jamaican trumpeter Dizzy Reece, Slide Hampton’s first World of Trombones album(Hear Slide’s arrangement of ‘Round Midnight for trombones), Jimmy Rowles in trio format with George Mraz and Leroy Williams, Kenny Burrell on a funky, CTI-type recording from 1974, a fine album from Detroit Baritone Saxophonist Pepper Adams, one from underappreciated jazz flautist, Sam Most , Frank Foster’s small big band “Living Color” and more.
