Barbara Smythe presents Verdi’s Luisa Miller

Barbara Smythe, host of Monday Night at the Opera, will guide listeners through the entangled story of Luisa Miller. The broadcast will feature Luciano Pavarotti, Montserat Caballe, and Sherril Milnes.  It’s not often heard and contains some of the best music from Verdi’s early period.

Handel’s Semele and Messiah Sing Alongs

Join Jim Emdy on Monday Night November 5 at 7 p.m. for a broadcast of Virgil Thomson’s opera about Susan B. Anthony, who fought for the right of women to vote – an election eve special.  Also we will hear an interview with Melody King, currently in the cast of Opera San Jose’s next production, “Die Fledermaus.”
