This final part of the musical essay series focuses on (a) the myth-theme of the “night-sea journey” to the Arctic and (b) on the microcosmic/psychological (whereas the previous musical essays dealt with the macrocosmic/astronomical) level of the shamanic journey to the North Pole and Star. The GS shows how the guiding North Star, representing in shamanic myth the “sacred center” of the cosmos, has become in depth-psychology a symbol of the central wholeness of the psyche–”the Self”.
